Mission
The mission of the HIV Program is to provide care and early intervention services to all HIV-positive individuals in the state of Kansas, regardless of ability to pay.

Program
The HIV Program provides care and treatment to over 800 patients, with average annual increases of over 100 new patients a year. The care is provided at the KU Internal Medicine Midtown facility located at 1125 N. Topeka, Wichita, KS. In addition, care is provided in outreach clinics in Garden City, Salina and Pittsburg every six to eight weeks. (link to KU Internal Medicine Midtown web page)

The HIV Program seeks to provide quality community-based medical care, education and research throughout Wichita, as well as the rest of the state. The program’s Medical Director, Dr. Donna Sweet, is quite literally, “considered the gold standard for HIV care in the state” according to the Primary Care Assessment Tool (2000) administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
